Body Safe Sex Toys
LUVOQA is committed to selling only body safe and non-toxic sex toys and lubricants.
LUVOQA complies with the seller standards set forth by the National Association for the Advancement of Science and Art in Sexuality Compact for Safe Sexual Products.
Summary of NAASAS Standards for Sellers
- Educate your consumers by listing the materials from which your products are made
- Promote non-toxic* materials and demonstrate to your consumers the added benefit of safe products
*Toxic materials prohibited from inclusion in sex toys and lubricants by NAASAS include parabens, petroleum, and phthalates, of which di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate is classified by the US National Toxicology Program as "reasonably anticipated to be a human carcinogen".
In addition to compliance with NAASAS standards, LUVOQA takes further measures to protect our customers.
Body safe sex toys
LUVOQA only sells sex toys that are free from known and potentially toxic materials. See the excluded materials table below for more information.
LUVOQA only sells sex toys made from materials with a low degree of porosity (e.g., silicone) or no porosity (e.g., annealed glass, reinforced ceramic with a glaze finish, stainless steel, ABS plastic, and wood with a nonporous finish), with the exception of certain single-use items. Porosity is a measure of the void or empty spaces in a material. The more porous an item's material, the more places there are for bacteria to hide and reproduce. Sex toys made from materials with a high degree of porosity (e.g., jelly, PVC/Sil-a-Gel, TPE/TPR, and rubber/elastomer) are more difficult to clean and sanitize after use, which can present a health risk.
Body safe lubricants
LUVOQA only sells lubricants that are free from known and potentially toxic materials. See the excluded materials table below for more information.
|Excluded Material||Industrial Purpose||Reason Excluded|
|Parabens||Parabens are a class of preservatives widely used in cosmetic and pharmaceutical products.||There is ongoing debate as to whether or not parabens are toxic. Therefore, as a precaution, we do not carry sex toys or lubricants made from or containing parabens.|
|Petroleum||Petroleum is a naturally occurring mixture of hydrocarbons of various weights found in geological formations beneath the Earth's surface. It can be distilled into petroleum jelly, which is widely used as a skin protectant.||We do not carry lubricants containing petroleum, as it contributes to pH imbalance in the vagina and significantly increases the risk of developing a yeast infection.|
|Phthalates||Phthalates, or more precisely phthalate esters, are plasticizers that decrease the viscosity of a material, or increase its plasticity.||We do not carry sex toys or lubricants made from or containing phthalates, of which di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate is classified by the US National Toxicology Program as "reasonably anticipated to be a human carcinogen".|
|Glycerin/glycerol||Glycerin, or more precisely glycerol, is a sugar alcohol compound (polyol) that is widely used as a sweetener in food and humectant in pharmaceutical products.||There is ongoing debate as to whether or not glycerol contributes to pH imbalance in the vagina. Therefore, as a precaution, we do not carry lubricants containing glycerol.|
|Propylene glycol||Propylene glycol is a synthetic organic compound (diol alcohol) that is widely used as a preservative and humectant in food and tobacco products. It is also used as a solvent in pharmaceutical products, including oral, injectable, and topical formulations.||Some women experience irritation in response to propylene glycol. Therefore, as a precaution, we do not carry lubricants containing propylene glycol.|
|Phenoxyethanol||Phenoxyethanol is a germicidal glycol ether that is widely used as a preservative in cosmetic products and stabilizer in perfumes and soaps.||We do not carry lubricants containing phenoxyethanol, as some women experience irritation in response to it and, in high concentrations, phenoxyethanol may depress the central nervous system.|
|Chlorhexidine||Chlorhexidine is a disinfectant and antiseptic used as an additive in cosmetic products and active ingredient in pharmaceutical products. It is also used as a disinfectant for skin before surgery and to sterilize surgical instruments.||Some women experience irritation in response to chlorhexidine. Therefore, as a precaution, we do not carry lubricants containing chlorhexidine.|
Sale of only new items
LUVOQA only sells new, unopened items. In support of this measure, we maintain a strict Return Policy.
Our product team spends a lot of time researching brands, materials, production methods, and reading reviews to determine which products are safe and which have known or potential issues and need to be excluded from our inventory.
